Chartered Society of Designers Certificate Frame
Achieving membership or Chartered Designer status with the Chartered Society of Designers is a mark of genuine professional distinction — recognised internationally as the highest standard of design practice. This handcrafted certificate frame has been made to display your CSD certificate with the prominence and permanence it truly deserves.
Crafted to a Professional Standard
Each frame is individually hand-made to accommodate the specific dimensions of Chartered Society of Designers certificates. The construction combines traditional framing craftsmanship with materials chosen for both visual impact and long-term preservation. The glazing is anti-glare styrene, which reduces the damaging effects of UV light while ensuring your certificate remains clearly legible from every angle, free from unwanted reflections.
Archival Quality Mount
The mount is produced using foil-printed, acid-free mount card, with Chartered Society of Designers foil-printed to the face. Acid-free materials are essential for archival preservation — they will not yellow or degrade over time, ensuring your certificate remains in pristine condition for the long term. The mount colour has been carefully selected to complement the CSD’s own colours, creating a cohesive and distinguished presentation.
Your Choice of Frame
Three moulding styles are available, allowing you to match the frame to your environment and personal taste:
-
Black and Gold — a classic, formal combination that suits both traditional and modern professional spaces
-
Teak and Gold — a warm, rich finish with an understated elegance, ideal for office or study settings
-
Contemporary — a clean, modern profile suited to studio environments and contemporary interiors
A Society with a Distinguished History
The Chartered Society of Designers traces its origins to 1930, when it was founded as the Society of Industrial Artists following an inaugural meeting at the Ye Olde Cock Tavern on London’s Fleet Street. After nearly half a century of championing the design profession, the Society was granted a Royal Charter by HM Queen Elizabeth II in 1976 — the ultimate recognition of its role in establishing design as a formal profession. By the 1980s it had adopted the name it holds today, and in 2011 was further empowered to establish The Register of Chartered Designers, enabling the award of the prestigious Chartered Designer title. With roots that some trace as far back as the medieval Guild of Peynters and Stainers in 1236, the CSD represents one of the longest-standing traditions of creative professional practice in the world.
