The frame arrives ready to display, complete with all necessary fittings, so your certificate can go straight from its envelope to the wall.

Your Choice of Frame

Three carefully considered frame styles are available, each suited to different tastes and interior settings:

• Black and Gold – a timeless combination that lends a formal, academic gravitas, ideal for offices, studies, and professional spaces

• Teak and Gold – a warm, rich finish that brings a traditional warmth to the presentation of your certificate

• Contemporary – a clean, modern style for those who prefer understated elegance over ornate detailing

The Mount

The mount has been carefully selected to complement the University of Sheffield’s colours, ensuring that the overall presentation feels cohesive and fitting for such a prestigious institution. The university’s name is foil-printed directly onto the mount card, adding an authentic, distinguished touch that elevates the frame beyond an everyday display piece. The mount card is acid-free, making it essential for archival preservation — it will not yellow or degrade over time, protecting your certificate for the future.

Anti-Glare Protection

The frame is glazed with anti-glare styrene, which reduces the damaging effects of UV light whilst ensuring your certificate remains clearly legible from any angle, free from distracting reflections.

A University Worth Celebrating

The University of Sheffield has a remarkable heritage rooted in the ambitions of ordinary working people. It was partly founded on the penny donations of Sheffield factory workers, who hoped that a university would benefit their children and their community — a civic spirit that remains central to the institution today. Granted its Royal Charter in 1905 by King Edward VII, the university has since grown into one of the UK’s leading research institutions and a proud member of the Russell Group. Sheffield can lay claim to six Nobel Prize winners among its alumni and staff, and its graduates include astronaut Helen Sharman — the first Briton in space — Olympic gold medallist Jessica Ennis-Hill, and pioneering aviator Amy Johnson. The university’s Latin motto, Rerum cognoscere causas, translates as “To discover the causes of things” — a fitting sentiment for a community of scholars and graduates.
