Frame and Mount Materials

The frame is glazed with anti-glare styrene, which reduces the damaging effects of UV light, helping to protect your photograph over time. The mount is precision-cut and features foil printing of the University of Northampton name, adding an elegant and distinguished finishing touch that elevates this beyond a standard photo frame. The mount card is acid-free and archival quality, essential for preservation — it will not yellow or degrade over time, ensuring your photograph remains as vibrant as the day it was taken. The frame is ready to hang or stand, arriving safely packaged to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.

Your Choice of Frame

This frame is available in a choice of moulding styles to suit your taste and home décor:

• Black and Gold — a timeless, classic combination that suits both traditional and contemporary interiors

• Teak and Gold — a warm, rich finish with a traditional character that beautifully complements wooden furnishings

• Contemporary — a clean, modern style for those who prefer a sleeker, understated aesthetic

• Black and Silver — a sleek, sophisticated finish that offers a cooler, contemporary take on a traditional style

The mount colour has been carefully selected to complement the University of Northampton’s colours, ensuring a cohesive and distinguished presentation.

A University With a Remarkable Story

The University of Northampton carries a history that few institutions in England can match. Northampton was home to one of England’s earliest universities, established by Royal Charter granted by King Henry III in 1261 — making it the third university in England after Oxford and Cambridge, and the 22nd in Europe. The institution even enjoyed the patronage of Simon de Montfort, the celebrated baron and statesman credited as a founding figure of parliamentary democracy. Remarkably, the university was dissolved just four years later in 1265 at the insistence of Oxford, which viewed Northampton as a rival — and a Royal Decree was signed banning any future university in the town. It remains the only institution in the UK ever to have been stripped of its university status. The modern University of Northampton was eventually refounded and gained full university status in 2005 — a long-overdue restoration of a seat of learning with deep and fascinating roots.
