Plymouth Marjon University carries a remarkable heritage stretching back nearly 200 years. The institution traces its roots to the 1830s, when two pioneering colleges — St Mark’s and St John’s — were established with the purpose of training young people to teach, offering a genuine pathway out of poverty at a time when access to education was far from universal.
