About the Royal Horticultural Society

The Royal Horticultural Society was founded on 7 March 1804, originally as the Horticultural Society of London, at a meeting of just seven men at Hatchards bookshop in Piccadilly, London, including the renowned botanist Sir Joseph Banks and John Wedgwood, son of the celebrated potter Josiah Wedgwood.
